RFID for BBC on Drupal & Raspberry Pi

Brightonart has developed a new RFID system for the BBC using Drupal and Raspberry Pi. The system creates a zone based network to facilitate the interfacing of RFID events with a Drupal management server.

Raspberry Pi computers can be used to provide the hardware interface between standard RFID sensors and the base server, thus keeping the cost of nodes low. The project is Open Source and we are now open to enquiries for new applications.

The foundation of the project has been in the form of a commission by BBC Learning Innovations. The current application is for Educational events - designed to explore new connections between face to face and online by allowing visitors to an event to build up a learning profile which can then be accessed via the web afterwards.

Raspberry Pi is a trademark of the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The node interface software developed as part of this project is compatible with Raspberry Pi.
