September 2009 to present

Consultant software engineer specialising in Drupal. Recent clients include ITV, Red Bee Media, projects include:

  • ITV Pay Project (in progress) - Tech lead for team developing high performance Drupal solution for the ITV player site.
  • RedBeeMedia.com - Company website rebuilt in Drupal 6 featuring CDN served video and Jquery UI widgets.
  • Broadcast metadata transformation system that uses custom module suite migrating csv data into CCK, and exports XML to Youtube, Itunes etc.
  • Quicktime and jquery enabled cuepoint logging system for broadcast compliance with Drupal workflow and management system.
  • Imagenation.ae corporate site for major Abu Dhabi based film company, in English and Arabic.
  • Custom CCK field based on file field which allows upload through high performance UDP file transfer system - uses XMLRPC and SOAP.
  • Redeveloped exisitng Drupal 6 BBC web standards reporting tool to cope with complex queries on a huge dataset (>10M nodes) including custom module to enhance performance.

January 2009 to present

Project manager & lead developer for Net Sounds, a 3-year European Commission funded project to create a European network for organisations and individuals involved in music education. The projects main output is a community website based on Drupal 6.

June 2008 to September 2009

Freelance Drupal team lead working for international clients including Artesanos Digitales in Madrid developing community and corporate sites using Drupal 6, CCK, Views, Jquery, Ajax and custom module development. Sites built include Yelmo Cines and Cyldigital - a community site for the government of Castilla and Leon.

October 2007 to October 2009

Project manager and lead developer for Net Music 01, a 2-year European Comission funded Leonardo project designed to transfer the development of E-Musicnet (see below) into a practical environment. The application is a web-based Web 2.0 tutorial teaching music students how to use professional production software and was developed in Drupal 5 with custom theme and module development and content and CMS interface in Italian and English.

Jan 2005 to May 2008

Production Director for the annual Rocket Festival in Spain. In October 2007 the Rocket Festival website was rebuilt in English and Spanish using the Drupal CMS. Translation and edit workflow and stability under heavy yield and custom modules were requirements of the development. Rocketfestival.com is a state-of-the-art web application in a demanding industry.
