PIXnMIX Live, an initiative designed to develop a new breed
of audiovisual artists is being pioneered in Birmingham as part of Channel
Four's creative careers resource, IDEASFACTORY.
PIXnMIX Live is the first project of its kind, training
20 young people in the skills needed to become a successful VJ. VJs, or
Video Jockeys, (as opposed to DJs) create and mix video and computer-generated
imagery live at clubs and music events. |

VJs.net is a group of leading VJs, educators, media professionals and
audiovisual artists who have come together to promote the artform of VJing,
through Education, Artist Management and Publication. VJs.net is supported
by NESTA (The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts)
and has run educational projects for the BBC, Connexions and London's
Darwin Centre at the National History Museum.

EQUAL, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), tests new ways of tackling
discrimination and inequality experienced by those in work and those looking
for a job. The key principles of EQUAL include international co-operation,
empowerment, dissemination and innovation. Working Broadband GB is the
project within EQUAL which has co-funded PIXnMIX with Channel 4. |

VIVID

production and commissioning company for experimental and innovative media
arts work. Based in Birmingham, Vivid works across the UK and internationally
with the best emerging artists to research and develop touring and site-specific

West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund through Birmingham
City Council Economic Development.

Syzygy have been performing live visuals at music events in Birmingham
and nationally since the summer of 2000, playing alongside artists as
diverse as Arthur Baker, Mixmaster Morris, Freq Nasty, Fuzz Townsend,
Nicky Blackmarket, Nitin Sawney, Plus One and Ross Allen.
